Scuba Announces Ten Date North American Tour

Whether you know him best as the long-time label boss of Hotflush, his SCB alias, the near mythical SUB:STANCE residency at Berghain, his outspoken Twitter account, or in his current incarnation as a bleeding edge house and techno producer, its clear that Scuba is one of underground dance music’s most chameleonic and pioneering trail blazers.

This Winter, Scuba will headline ten dates across North America, kicking off with a Hot Flush showcase in BPM, before hitting spots including NYC’s Output, DC’s U Street and LA’s Sound among others.

Whether at his live shows, over the course of his extended DJ sets, in back-to-back sessions, or via his acclaimed productions, Scuba straddles a unique sweet-spot between house and techno. For all the industrial darkness associated with Scuba since his emergence, his 2012 album ‘Personality’ with its rubbery techno, anthemic house and euphoric vocals, showed his compulsion to push boundaries and refusal to conform to any genre boxes. Praised by the likes of Pitchfork, BBC, NME, CMJ and Clash, it was confounding yet irresistible, and as such, a pretty good reflection of Scuba himself.

2013 has seen Scuba touring and DJing relentlessly while also bringing his acclaimed live show to festival stages including Primavera Sound, Parklife and Global Gathering. The start of 2014 will see the release of a host of new music from Scuba, no doubt again shattering any conceptions we might have about him as an artist.

Since Scuba formed Hotflush in 2003 it has been a constant touch point for contemporary dance music, providing a home to the likes of Mount Kimbie, Joy Orbison, George Fitzgerald, Recondite, Jimmy Edgar and more. 2013 has proven no different, with Paul Woolford’s “Untitled” soundtracking Ibiza throughout the summer and George Fitzgerald, Sepalcure, South London Ordinance and Locked Groove all contributing releases. At BPM Scuba will be joined at his Hotflush showcase by Jimmy Edgar, Agoria, Recondite and special guest Jesse Rose.
