The objective is for each entry to emphasize the intersection of art and technology.
Participation is open to any individual or team who will be 18 years of age by the time registration closes on December 29th, 2013. Submissions will be accepted in digital format only. More information on proposal requirements, format and parameters, as well as the official application forms can be found at www.moogfest.com/map.

  • Innovation and interdisciplinary approach to making
  • Rapidly deployable (must be constructed in less than 24 hours)

ARMIN VAN BUUREN ANNOUNCES ‘ARMIN ONLY – INTENSE’ WORLD TOUR

Eighteen cities added to world tour, more to be announced.

NEW YORK, NY (October 21st, 2013)Armin van Buuren announced the cities and dates of his upcoming world tour: Armin Only – Intense. Next to the first two (sold-out) editions in the Amsterdam Ziggo Dome in early November, the tour will also land in cities such as New York, St. Petersburg, Toronto, Mexico city, Sydney, Johannesburg and many more. ALDA Events, in charge of the concept development, emphasizes that the new Armin Only – Intense will be a spectacle for each and every visitor.

Concept and Vision

The new world tour is inspired by Armin’s latest artist album, Intense (Armada Music). Armin Only is a concept that started in the early days of Armin’s career. Since the first editions in the early millennium years, the show has grown and come to life. Armin said, ”Unlike today, now that it’s all based on short sets and quick highlights, it used to be all about the long sets, the musical trips. That’s what Armin Only is based on – to take the clubbers on a six-plus hour journey into music. Through the Armin Only - Intense shows, I can tell them the full story of my Intense album – in fact of everything I’d like to say.”

New Approach

With a new world tour, greater expectations arise. Armin van Buuren and ALDA Events have teamed up with famous theatre director, Jos Thie, and creative mind, Sander Reneman (owner of 250K). The two directors teamed up with the Intense crew, resulting in a completely unconventional and fresh approach to an electronic dance music show. Armin said of the new approach to the show, “The basis of Armin Only will always be a DJ set, but to make it more interesting for the crowd, I’m going to try and really make the live moments almost like you would witness them in a theater.” As a result, there will be an extensive rehearsal period of two weeks, during which time Armin and his crew will perfect the show. Exclusive preview shows have been added in Brabanthallen before the Ziggo Dome shows for a relatively intimate audience of 2,000 people per show. Tickets for the preview shows are available via www.ArminOnly.com. There will also be the creation of a road movie filmed during the entire tour, which will be made possible by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Philips.

Destinations

On Friday the 15th and Saturday the 16th of November, Armin welcomes all of his fans during the official kick-off of his world tour in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where he will unfold the many layers of this new show. Tickets for the first Armin Only – Intense show sold-out within hours and tickets for the second show sold-out within one weekend. After this premiere, Armin Only – Intense will continue its journey around the world. Audiences can expect to be blown away by an exclusive six-hour set by Armin van Buuren, including stunning live performances, dance acts and top-notch technical effects that have never been used in an electronic dance music (EDM) show before. Joseph Capriati 'Self Portrait' album

Release: December

Drumcode

Techno's heir apparent drops his long awaited second album 'Self Portrait' on Adam's Beyer's revered Drumcode imprint.

There's no room to argue, Joseph Capriati has enjoyed his finest year to date and his escalation as one the principle profiles in techno knows no boundaries.

The Napoli-born firebrand has just completed a stunning season in Ibiza as a resident of Marco Carola's Music On at Amnesia. Anyone who caught him play the main room this season will agree - his special ability to combine an infectious stage presence, with razor sharp DJ skills draws techno fans to the dancefloor like bees to a honey pot. No wonder island legend Carola's handpicked him to perform on 8 separate occasions, more than any other artist this season.

Combine this momentum with an outstanding 2013 that already saw him headline his first coast-to-coast tour of the US, play a historic 12 hour set at the Metropolis in Napoli, plus headline every major techno festival on the planet, the time couldn't be better for Capriati to unleash 'Self Portrait', his sophomore LP.

Already ingrained in the consciousness of techno lovers this year thanks to 'Fratello' and 'Awake' the pair of searing dancefloor slayers that were released in June as the album's first singles, 'Self Portrait' goes deeper than the club stormers the Italian is famed for. Over 11 future-facing tracks, Capriati displays his deft production skill to supersede his reputation for bodyslamming dancefloors.

Tracks such as 'Electrolytic', the album's atmospheric opener evokes mood with a barrage of steely synths, gritty drums and industrial beats, while 'Self Portrait', the typically reflective album title track is an understated ambient gem led by warm trickles of melody that pairs nicely with 'Naked' which exhibits the producer's deft skills for moulding sparse stripped back minimal that kicks along with cheeky vox and shuffling percussion.

He further reinforces his ability to create addictive club rollers with the quirky, squiggly groover 'Easy Come Easy Go', while the masterful 'Basic Elements', chugs along with rattling industrial percussion before giving way to a sublime wall of melody that's just the kind of genius fare that gets his diehard fans raising Italian flags inscribed with 'JOSEPH CAPRIATI KING OF TECHNO' regularly at this gigs. And with an album this good, who are we to argue?

Paul Kalkbrenner Announces Debut North American Solo Tour

‘Guten Tag’ Will See German Techno Act Play Six Live Gigs In December

Paul Kalkbrenner today announced his first solo live tour of America. Synonymous with Berlin techno, Kalkbrenner is one of electronic music’s most singular artists, who despite topping charts and selling out arenas continues to play the style of techno that has defined his career over seven albums: propulsive and melodic, dark yet uplifting.

After joining Sonar On Tour last year in America and playing Coachella’s Sahara Stage this year, Kalkbrenner just played a three-hour live sold-out show at NYC’s Output. The forthcoming US tour follows the release of his seventh studio album, ‘Guten Tag’, self-released on Paul Kalkbrenner Music, it was a top 5 album in Germany and a No.1 record in Switzerland.

Watch the video for his most recent single ‘Der Buhold’, from ‘Guten Tag’ here:

A dance music crossover act, who crossed over before the term EDM was even conceived, Kalkbrenner is a Platinum selling artist, who’s track ‘Sky + Sand’ broke the German singles record, spending over 127 consecutive weeks in the Top 100. He has pushed further boundaries with his outstanding and unconventional performance as ‘Ickarus’ in the cult movie ‘Berlin Calling’, which was an unflinching look into one of the world’s most revered sub-cultures, Berlin’s techno scene. Kalkbrenner produced and recorded the movie’s soundtrack, which has sold over 250,000 album copies.

At 15 years old Kalkbrenner became obsessed with collecting the records that were soundtracking the first wave of Berlin’s iconic clubs, Tresor, Planet, Walfisch and E-Werk. He started producing his own music and forged a long-standing relationship with Ellen Allien’s highly influential Berlin label bPitch Control. In 2011 he launched his own label self-releasing his sixth album ‘Icke Wieder’, followed by his seventh, ‘Guten Tag’ 18 months later. Both of his self-released albums were top 5 albums in Germany. WALL STREET WHITE PAPER VALUES EDM INDUSTRY AT $20.0 BILLION

Electronic Dance Music (EDM): The Digital Pangaea, the first annual Massive White Paper written by Wall Street veteran John Langdon and his company Massive Advisors, LLC shows the current reach, influence and true value of the global EDM Industry. It's an econometric market study of the global electronic dance music market and culture. Despite its growing popularity, studies on the macroeconomic impact of EDM are rare. Much less an all encompassing report that combines public and proprietary data to show the true figures of the industry.

The findings of the Massive White Paper show the EDM industry still is often completely ignored or misunderstood by governments and businesses worldwide -- from traditional music distributors, to apparel brands, to acoustics manufacturers.

The EDM market is a $15.0 to $20.0 billion global industry, with the major players in the global festival market achieving $4.5 billion in sales for 2012. Digital music revenues grew an impressive 9.8% in 2012. This compares to a 17% increase in festival attendees at five top

global festivals and an increase of 33% in the total number of festivals thrown yearly worldwide. The attendance at 20 top global festivals evaluated by Massive Advisors, LLC increased from 1.9 million in 2009 to an estimated 3.4+ million for 2013.

John Langdon and representatives of Massive Advisors will serve as panelists at the Amsterdam Dance Event Radio Forum speaking alongside the world's number one DJ Armin Van Buuren (Amsterdam,October 16 – 20). They will discuss the state of the dance music industry, DJing, producing, and technology and the future of dance music.

John Langdon has over 23 years of middle-market private equity experience on Wall Street, and most recently was Managing Director of the $2.8 billion private equity fund Platinum Equity, as co-head of PLMM, Platinum Equity's lower middle market investment group.
