New Remix EP For "Easy" By Mat Zo & Porter Robinson
Available Now on Astralwerks
North American Tour Dates Announced
[Premiere] "Easy (Mat Zo's Preprise)" - Listen Now
[Video] Official "Easy" Music Video - Watch Now

Recently signed to the renowned Astralwerks label, multi-faceted producer and remixer Mat Zo is proud to announce the release of a brand new remix EP for “Easy” in collaboration with Porter Robinson. This release directly coincides with exclusive May live tour dates across the U.S (see full routing below).
Additionally, check out the exclusive premiere of “Easy (Mat Zo’s Preprise)here. It's a track taken from the forthcoming full-length due for release later this year that predated Porter’s involvement and is unavailable anywhere else.

[Premiere] "Easy (Mat Zo's Preprise)" - Listen Now
At a mere 23 years of age, Mat Zo is the hotly tipped British electronic music star championed by everyone from Pete Tong, A-Trak, and Swedish House Mafia to Skrillex, Lifelike, Above & Beyond and more. His diverse Beatport hits on the legendary Anjunabeats label include “Bipolar, Superman and Frequency Flier.” High profile global tours, collaborations with fellow talent Arty (“Mozart”), and a reputation as one of dance music’s most acerbic wits has seen his star climb ever higher in the past 12 months. 2013 will see him release his debut artist album on Astralwerks - which will cover everything from glitchy hip-hop and electronica to UK garage and big room club bangers.
Easy,” a big room melodic house anthem that weds feel-good soulfulness with massive contemporary dynamics, has already reached #1 on Beatport and Hype Machine, was premiered to great acclaim on Radio 1 by Pete Tong. Zo was also recently named MTV Clubland’s “Artist To Watch.” The eclectic 6-track EP features a range of new remixes of “Easy” by such luminaries as Belgium-based Modek, indie darlings Lamaitre and drum n’ bass legend Andy C. The track began life as a demo for Zo’s album, until Robinson brought him on the road to tour for his successful single "Language" which sold more than 250,000 copies and hit #1 on Beatport and iTunes Dance charts. While on the road, the solo effort turned into collaboration between two of the world’s hottest young electronic music talents, and together, Robinson and Zo have created one of the most incendiary crossover dance records of the year.

Mat Zo also recently helmed Radio 1's renowned Essential Mix. which you can listen to here.

a well-produced, feel good, and universally catchy track.”- Dancing Astronaut

“…beautifully brings together the styles of both producers. ‘Easy’ supplies a sound that is both melodic and energetic, bringing shiny piano progressions that combine with powerful synth behind a pounding beat to create an uplifting track that is sure to put hands in the sky at the biggest of EDM events.” Elektro Daily

Cedric Gervais and pop icon Howard Jones team up on

“Things Can Only Get Better”

Watch the “Things Can Only Get Better” music video here

Listen on Hype Machine and Soundcloud

As the sun gets ready to shine down on another fabulous summer for dance music we’ve come across what will undoubtedly be one the seasons biggest anthems. Cedric Gervais has teamed with Howard Jones to create a brand new dance floor version of the pop icon’s smash “Things Can Only Get Better.” Whoa, whoa whoa whoa oh oh…it’s a smash…built around Howard’s instantly recognizable vocals and Cedric’s progressive instrumental.

Set for release in North America this spring/summer on Robbins, Cedric and Howard have gone all in creating a video that celebrates the amazing 80’s and one dude living in Miami during the days of Crockett & Tubbs. Living amidst the Rubik’s Cube’s, Critters on VHS, Delorean’s and boom boxes this down on his luck guy steps foot into a garage that transport’s him into the future…where things only get better.

From his first residencies at famed clubs Gaio (St. Tropez) and Queen (Paris) when he was just 14 and 15 years old, respectively, to taking over the Miami club scene, Cedric Gervais is one of the most in demand DJ/producers in the world today. His first big break came in the form of ‘Spirit of my Life’ in 2006; Pete Tong made it an Essential New Tune on his BBC Radio 1 show. Cedric followed with a string of high profile remixes for the likes of Dubfire and more ‘Essential New Tunes’ followed – namely in the form of 2009’s ‘Mauri’s Dream’ and 2012’s ‘Molly’ which became the soundtrack to 2012 WMC. Pete Tong loved it so much he played it 5 times consecutively on air in making it his Essential New Tune. Cedric’s current smash – his remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness” topped the Beatport for over 3 weeks while remaining in top ten for two months solid. Two of Cedric’s most high profile club-residencies have been at Liv in Miami and XS & Surrender in Las Vegas. Both of which are now home to his very own SHITSHOW!!! Parties. These events started at Liv and have grown to become a next-level clubbing experience. The ethos is simple, the production and level of effort put into making these parties happen is anything but. Put simply, anything goes at the SHITSHOW!!! events, there is no judgment or rules, only crazy clothes, lights, décor and one of the most up-for-it crowds found in any club globally.

Howard Jones first burst upon the contemporary music scene in 1983 and brought his very English song-writing and pioneering synthesizers to an unsuspecting world. His first two albums - Human’s Lib andDream Into Action lived in the higher reaches of the global album charts thanks to hits “New Song,” “What is Love?,” “Pearl in the Shell,” “Hide and Seek,” (which he performed at Live Aid in 1985), “Like to Get to Know You Well,” “Look Mama,” “Things Can only Get Better,” “Everlasting Love” and the quintessential “No One Is To Blame,” which reached No.1 in the US. A classically trained pianist, Jones applied his technique to the early synths particularly the Roland Juno 60, the Jupiter 8 and the Moog Prodigy. He also pioneered the classic Roland 808 drum machine and the Sequential Pro-One. In the early days he was triggering sequencers live on stage whilst playing and singing, something that no one had done before. Howard still operates on the cutting edge of today’s technology and has been one of the leading exponents of the Roland Fantom G8, the Roland V-piano and the Roland Jupiter 80. Many contemporary giants of the dance world have shown interest in working with Howard whichhas resulted in tracks such as ‘Into the Dark’ with Ferry Corsten and now “Things Can Only Get Better” with Cedric Gervais.

CBS RADIO AND ASTRALWERKS LAUNCH NATIONWIDE SEARCH

FOR BEST FEMALE DJ

“She Can DJ” Competition To Make Its Debut In the United States This July

CBS RADIO today announced a partnership with Astralwerks to introduce “She Can DJ – America,” a nationwide talent search to find the country’s top female DJ/Producer. After successful programs in Australia and throughout Europe, “She Can DJ” will launch in major markets nationwide this July.

Following local competitions run by CBS RADIO stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, Boston, Detroit, Phoenix, San Diego, Charlotte and Las Vegas, 12 semi-finalists will be chosen, including one wild-card competitor to vie for a grand prize that includes a recording contract with Astralwerks, and headline a tour through the CBS RADIO markets that took part in the competition.

“Aspiring female DJ’s/Producers need look no further than She Can DJ for that once in a lifetime chance to captivate an entire industry with their talent,” said Greg Strassell, Senior Vice President, Programming, CBS RADIO.  “As the competition plays out across our considerable platform of contemporary hit radio stations, participants will be front and center with millions of music fans, and the top decision makers in the business.  The electronic dance music movement has been playing out to much success on radio stations all over the United States, and CBS RADIO looks forward to advancing the genre.”

“She Can DJ” is backed up by Astralwerks; a label trusted for bringing the world’s top dance music talent to America for over 20 years. Competitors and fans alike can expect the most authentic talent search for the country’s top female dance music DJ knowing that the team behind such legendary acts as Fatboy Slim, David Guetta, Hot Chip, Swedish House Mafia and The Chemical Brothers will play an integral role in the selection process.

“Seeing how successful She Can DJ was in discovering top female DJ/producer’s in overseas markets it’s the perfect time to launch stateside,” Astralwerks General Manager Glenn Mendlinger says. “The United States is the hottest place on earth for dance music right now but the industry is largely male dominated. We’re thrilled to be a part of a program that will help discover and develop top female talent in the dance music space.”

Further details about the competition including rules and regulations will be revealed soon. Visit www.shecandjus.com for the latest updates.

CASSY Announces Brooklyn, NYC Residency at OUTPUT
Beginning June 1st
Cassy performing at Coachella 2013 | Photo Credit: Rukes.com
Hot on the heels of her wildly successful Coachella debut, Cassy continues to put her stamp on America with the June 1st launch of a new quarterly residency at the newly opened Brooklyn club, Output. Recently featured inRolling Stone as one of “The 25 DJs That Rule the Earth,” Cassy has long held residencies at some of Europe’s most celebrated underground clubs including Berlin's PanoramabarRex Club in Paris and Amsterdam’s Trouw. With this announcement, she becomes the first official resident of Output, a venue that just months after opening has already been heralded as North America’s first legitimate contender for a spot on that prestigious list. Powered by an unrivaled Funktion One sound system, and featuring a who’s who of top talent right out of the gate, Output has become the spot every DJ is clamoring to play, prompting even the likes of Carl Cox to exclaim, “It’s without a doubt the best club in New York since Twilo, and I can’t wait to go back.”
"This year so far I have had an amazing time in America with my shows  - Output is everything I stand for as a DJ  - and America certainly has exciting times ahead - can't wait!" - CASSY
On Cassy’s Coachella performance, LA Weekly commented, “Not only did we love her debut, but we enjoyed hearing this underground sound which rarely makes it to the big festivals in the states,” underscoring what a rare treat it is to experience a Cassy DJ set this side of the Atlantic. Cassy, however, is actually no stranger to NYC’s underground club goers. Her signature sexy, sophisticated yet raw house and techno stylings, delivered primarily on vinyl, have been favored at the famed Manhattan nightlife destination Cielo and at a variety of one-off Brooklyn warehouse events over the years. With this residency, a first for her in the North American market, Cassy will have an opportunity to connect with her loyal following via an ongoing musical dialog as never before, while nurturing a new generation of fans presently discovering electronic dance music as the genre gains momentum stateside.
There could hardly be a DJ better suited to the task. A “genre-expanding spinner,” according to Rolling Stone,Cassy continues to remain at the top of the male-dominated DJ culture while projecting a uniquely feminine soul on the dancefloor. An artist truly devoted to her craft, Cassy demonstrates masterful ability and flawless programming in every set. Cassy’s discography includes collaborations with Kirk Degiorgio, Swayzak and Ricardo Villalobos, and she has been featured record labels such as CocoonDesolat, Soma, Poker Flat, Balance Music and Osgut Ton.

###

“[Cassy] broke through as a Panorama Bar resident but has since become a force unto herself, delivering her punchy and soulful brand of house all over the world, from intimate afterhours in Berlin to enormous gigs like Ultra Music Festival in Miami.” - ResidentAdvisor
"THE 25 DJS THAT RULE THE EARTH | #23 Cassy: At her residencies at some of the world's coolest clubs – including Berlin's wild Panorama Bar and her label boss Sven Väth's Cocoon in Frankfurt – Cassy rocks swaggery, superstylish house with tons of classic New York and Chicago flavor." - Rolling Stone
As the heavy rhythms of British producer Cassy's set of minimal, bottom-heavy house and techno vibrated the disco ball spinning above, dancing worshipers moved around the speakers like moths, drawn to the rumbling hum of the bass.” - LA Times
“This Austrian-raised DJ is part of a wave of superlative jocks that continues to flow out of Berlin. She has performed at techno epicenter Cocoon in Ibiza, spins regularly at Berlin's Panoramabar, and has worked with such tech titans as Ricardo Villalobos and Steve Bug. So she's a techno DJ? Sure. But if you listen closely you'll hear deep house and the kind of vocal soul rarely associated with the boom-tss sound of that underground. And that's a good thing.” - LA Weekly

The Presets, Dragonette, & Classixx

Kick Off North American Tour This Saturday May 5

Rolling Stone Premieres Tomas Barfod's Remix of "Fall"

"His take on 'Fall' is a blissful sunset drive home that would work easily enough on the dance floor as it would any other environment you would care to enjoy it." - Kim Moyes (The Presets)

Earlier today, Rolling Stone exclusively premiered Tomas Barfod's exquisite remix of The Presets' "Fall." Head over to Rolling Stone to grab a free download of the track, and learn about the inspiration behind the tune.

This premiere comes just in time for the start of The Presets North American tour this May 2013, with Dragonette and Classixx. The tour kicks off this Saturday in Washington DC, and will see the bands visiting cities across the US and Canada throughout the next month.

Although coming from opposite sides of the world (Australia and Canada respectively), both The Presets and Dragonette share recognition globally for their electric live shows - hailed by audiences and critics as infectious, dynamic and irrepressible.

The Presets are touring in support of their recently released album Pacifica. Featuring ten prismatic, synth-laced songs, Pacifica ventures boldly into new, uncharted musical territories, traversing both light and shade in energy and emotion.

Fresh from US dates with Major Lazer, Dragonette will be showcasing material from their latest long player Bodyparts. From emotion-packed ballads to fist-pumping anthems, Bodyparts fuses heavy-hitting electro rhythms with pulsing beats, and sing-along choruses.

The bands will be joined in most markets by acclaimed LA duo, Classixx, performing tracks live from their upcoming debut Hanging Gardens, a svelte selection of impossibly sunny grooves, expertly crafted for road trips, pool parties and dance clubs.

ARTIST: VARIOUS ARTISTS

TITLE: TOKEN INTROSPECTIVE mixed by Kr!z

LABEL: TOKEN

FORMAT: CD (MIXED)

CATALOGUE NUMBER: TOKEN CD1

RELEASED: 17 JUNE 2013

“Token has always believed in its vision and stayed true to itself. It’s a label that I always keep an eye on and I'm always watching out for the next release. Here's to the next 6 years!” Ben Klock

"Token is label of strong conviction that's stayed true to it's vision, an admirable feat since it was started at a low ebb in the popularity of pure techno. Glad to see it's ridden out the fickleness  of fashion." Surgeon

Token is a label that has easily stayed true to itself and has put out some great dancefloor techno with some sublime intricate industrial soundscapes.” Dave Clarke

"This Music is a Gift, use it to say something that means something" Robert Hood

Token is one of the most important techno labels!” Marcel Dettmann

"From Inigo’s IDM/techno fusions to Phase perfectly straddling the Berlin/London divide Token has always offered something different with a commitment to quality that has never faltered. With Kaptain Kr!z at the helm I look forward to each new release to reach me." Perc

From the annual Token label nights at Berghain to travelling to Shanghai with Inigo Kennedy for a label night in the Chinese metropolis, Token founder Kr!z never thought his new venture would become such a bastion of global techno some 6 years later. Now he is the proud mixer of Token’s first label compilation, a mix that brings together label highlights such as Inigo Kennedy’s devastating ‘Obsidian’, Phase’s massive ‘Binary Opposition’ and Mark Broom’s ‘Two’ alongside remixes by techno figure heads Surgeon, James Ruskin, Ben Klock and Oscar Mulero whilst also nurturing new global techno talent such as Xhin, Ctrls, Makaton and Go Hiyama.

“When the scene for this sound of techno somehow collapsed around 2005, new records from my favourite artists became harder to find. Convinced that a lot of these people were sitting on some great music, I started thinking of creating my own platform. I never could have thought that years later, I would have been able to release so much great music by those artists. Some of them have become good friends, family even.” Kr!z

Narrowing down the track selection from over 100 productions meant that some tough decisions had to be made, a few of Kr!z’s favourites wouldn’t fit the flow or just wouldn’t fit the format but ultimately what you have is an unfolding story of a label presenting a sound that stands clear of music fashion with an uncompromising statement of intent.

“It has always been hard to define the Token sound. I have tried to build a consistent catalogue, led mostly by my gut feeling. I guess my goal is mainly to bring a pure sound that can stand the test of time, trends & hypes.”

It’s Kr!z’s commitment to vinyl that has also seen the label gather a steady following and the mix is indeed a vinyl only affair, not so much as a statement but purely because Kr!z feels the format adds extra tension and dynamics to the mix.

Perhaps we should leave the last words to the first artist to release on Token and alongside Phase, Ctrls and Xhin have helped to define the label’s hard-edged techno sound.

"The proposal for Token from the start was to be a vinyl label and it felt like the perfect way for me to focus on substantial releases on vinyl again. There's definitely a different psychology to working for vinyl. I also felt quite strongly that it would be good to work with a label with a plan for the future and not just pop out a one-off release; be part of a developing brand in a way." Inigo Kennedy (talking to Resident Advisor’s Todd Burns)

Although Kr!z wouldn’t wish to call his imprint a brand so to speak, Token has in the last 6 years become a label with a unified vision. A label that stands for something. And not everyone can say that.

Bicep – “Vision Of Love”

KMS Records
Catalogue Number: KMS-120

Digital Release Dates: Beatport May 13 / everywhere else May 27

Written by: Kevin Saunderson/Ann Saunderson/MatthewMcBriar/Andrew Ferguson

Preview here!

It’s a rare thing for two labels to come together to release a track, but KMS Records and Feel My Bicep have done exactly that.

“Vision Of Love” was produced by London-based production/DJ duo, Bicep (aka Matt McBriar and Andy Ferguson). Matt and Andy need little by way of introduction. Their 'Feel My Bicep blog" is the go to place for tastemakers world-wide for lost and forgotten disco/Chicago house/Detroit techno/Italoedits and everything in between. Their remix track record has also been excellent with them stamping their distinguished sound upon works from Blondes, Toby Tobias, Chamboche, Blood Orange, Cosmic Kids and many more for labels such as Domino, Wolf Music and Tusk. Will Saul then snapped them up for his label Aus, with a collaborative EP including tracks “You” and “Don't”, which hit number one on Juno and caused the Beatport charts some bother. Then in September 2012 their Feel My Bicep label launched with the highly sought after track “Vision Of Love.” It turns out that Matt and Andy had found an old Inner City track named “Good Love” (originally written by Kevin Saunderson and AnnSaunderson back in 2000) and naively, they sampled a section of the song and created their new track around Paris Grey’s vocal. Feel My Bicep, then released the track on vinyl only, as a limited pressing.

Matt and Andy explained, “like many house producers, when sketching down ideas and jamming in the studio, we sometimes roll through acapellas to find any little vocals snippets that work well over beats we've done. In one particular instance we stumbled across an Inner City acapellas for  'Good Love' that really worked with a piano riff. We titled the track “Vision Of Love” and released it as a, limited pressing, vinyl release. In our naiveté, we figured that we’d sell a few 12”s and no one would really take any notice... Then, much to our surprise the track started getting played on radio 1 and getting a lot of interest. We then realized that we would have to sort out a deal with Kevin, as the sample’s owner. Thankfully, he was very understanding about the whole thing and we worked out a deal to give him and Ann the credit that’s due. So, while we’re sticking to our original plan to keep that entire EP as vinyl only, Kevin’s label (KMS Records), are releasing “Vision Of Love” as a digital single”.

Kevin Saunderson adds, “Inner City and myself have a long history of influencing people and the music scene with our songs; especially with our vocal tracks and a track that we wrote back in 2000. At the end of last year I heard the track “Vision Of Love” and I instantly recognized that the sample was taken from “Good Love”. I thought, wow, that's "Good Love” and it works really well over that piano. There was some really good music happening, it had a nice sound to it and it was just
perfect. I knew the artist was Bicep, so I thought let me try and reach out to these guys, to see if they would be up for letting me release the record, digitally. I could give it some exposure and we can have a win/win situation for everyone. So, we made contact with the label, we worked out a deal and here we are! It's very catchy and very hooky and that's a part of my soul, always. It doesn't always have to be just musical, both vocals and melodies have been very important to some of the biggest tracks that I've ever created, so here we go... here it is... "Vision Of Love" by Bicep”...

Mathew Jonson To Release 'Her Blurry Pictures' on Crosstown Rebels, June 11

For many the ultimate visionary and sonic wizard, Mathew Jonson delivers a rare solo album for Crosstown Rebels with ‘Her Blurry Pictures’, encompassing a new evolution in his rhythmically complex and timeless approach over eight fluid and rich compositions.

Although distinctive as Jonson's production style, ‘Her Blurry Pictures’ marks the end of a phase for the Canadian in which he used music as a tool of escapism and looking within. Predominantly made in his studio in Berlin in 2012 (alongside some older choices from his hometown of Vancouver) ‘Her Blurry Pictures’ maps his coming into focus, moving into a new chapter of reflection, remaining present and finding a deeper connection.

Rising to prominence over a decade ago, Mathew Jonson has cast shadows on others in his field through a distinctive voice that offers a rare fusion of populist intensities and nuanced musicality, spanning elegant electronica, emotive techno and the universal laws of house.

A past cover star of DJ Mag UK and Groove Germany Jonson is one of the most wellrespected names in electronic music with past releases on M_NUS, Perlon and his own Wagon Repair label.

His first output in three years, the album follows two solo singles on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels imprint in 2012. Jonson has recently focused on his Cobblestone Jazz outfit (an improvised live 3 piece collaboration techno project) and the extended fourpiece, the Modern Deep Left Quartet as well as Midnight Operator (a raw, rough, uptempo partnership focusing on dancefloor bombs), each of which have earned him widespread success.

MATHEW JONSON ON HER BLURRY PICTURES

“My solo material is introspective and I go deep into each feeling and direction. With Cobblestone Jazz it’s more like a conversation between players. Midnight Operator is nothing less than an all out attack on the senses.

In the studio I keep an intuitive way of working where there is freedom outside the laws of musical training. Tracks can be produced anywhere though the first album track was made during soundcheck at Free Your Mind festival for example. The last few years my life has seen a transition from darker states into something filled with light. This has led to the release of my latest album."
